Magician Strengths and Weaknesses
Because the observational powers are so strong, the magician is very aware of the patterns of response linked to this world, and especially the psychological processes by which humans function. A direct correlation can be drawn between “if this emotion, then this behavioral reaction,” or “if this reaction, then most probably this emotion.” This is especially true for the weaker side of human nature. The magician survives by his or her wits and is less likely to see the highest potential in someone, but more likely to ascertain negative possibilities and distortions of the truth. The radar never goes down, and the bear-cat scanner never goes off. A well-developed inner magician has a keen sense of danger and knows how to ward off or avoid difficulties even before they begin. This is the magic and true potential of this path! The magician can break past negative patterns and prevent new ones from arising. While the inner mystic is the Keeper of the Vision, the inner magician is the Dweller by the Threshold who knows the Passage to Freedom and the way out of darkness.
The inner magician is also a master of the Physical Laws of Manifestation. It is the magician who feels comfortable in the physical realm and is able to make his or her way easily in a worldly sense. Job, money, home, and commitment tend to come naturally. Skills are quickly learned. The task is not to find something to do, or to even find something to do well. The quest for the magician is to do something meaningful, to be fulfilled by a dedication to a higher purpose, to follow a vision. The magician is at a spiritual disadvantage and needs to be inspired by a higher purpose. Too often, he or she gets caught on the material treadmill, dressed up with no place to go spiritually. The magician without a vision is like a technologically advanced machine, functioning perfectly, but spinning its wheels while stuck in a rut.
Test for the magician
Enter the test for the magician. With the understanding of the way things work, comes the understanding of how to work things, both in the visible and invisible worlds. Knowledge is power, but unfortunately it comes without the guarantee of wisdom, and the magician is susceptible to manipulating power for personal motives and gain. It is up to the magician to surrender all skills, power, and information to be used for the highest good in true service to the Divine.
